Brief Stopover

Having spent years coding in Java especially enterprise apps, I made a brief stopover looking out for some fast pace web language and framework to write my first website.

PHP was my first choice but after being turned-off by its OO syntax, I decided to look for more elegant constructs. I bumped on Ruby on Rails and was so fascinated by the render :partial constructs which looks cooler to implement the page composite pattern which I normally picked up when writing large scale web applications.

I initially thought Java EE would be an overkill for a simple personal website so my choice of rails would spare me from heavyweight deployment. Actually, JBoss Seams can be a good web framework as well but I would rather worry doing it at work than using it for my simple web apps. I wish to deploy my first web app in the next 3 to 6 months time.
